About Beyond Hemp Online

In 2020, Beyond Hemp was born as a cutting-edge hemp clothing brand, and Founder/CEO Deidre Diggs began taking the athleisure world by storm. Hemp clothing represents the future of the clothing industry, and Beyond Hemp helps to put it on more bodies. The high-quality online retail store has its roots in Oakland, California, but like hemp itself, is growing in popularity around the world. Specializing in clothing for women and men, Beyond Hemp wants to support the most intense of workouts—without requiring our planet to break a sweat.

Taking an innovative, fashion-forward approach, our eco-friendly and durable hemp athleisure can be used every day for gymnasts, yogis, runners, as well as comfy-clothes enthusiasts. We know firsthand that multi-purpose athleisure is hard to find—even harder when you’re looking for sustainable clothing. We’re making it a little easier. Consider Beyond Hemp your trendsetting gym/comfy-clothes buddy. We use eco-fabrics like hemp and organic cotton to make athleisure that keeps you feeling great and makes a positive impact on the environment.

Safe for You and the Planet

Why Hemp?

When you want a fabric that keeps working for you and our planet, hemp and organic cotton is a true miracle. From how it’s grown to how it's disposed of, the non-psychoactive fibers of the Cannabis sativa plant are nothing short of extraordinary.

Fast Growing and Antimicrobial

Benefits of Hemp

It’s fast-growing: Hemp can grow from seed to fabric-ready stalk in as little as 100 days. It smells better: Thanks to natural antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, hemp athleisure and hemp clothing will smell and feel better—even after an intense hot yoga practice.

For everyday

Long Lasting

Hemp is stronger and lasts longer: Unlike other fabrics, hemp doesn’t stretch out, wear down, or pill after every wear. It’s one of the most long-lasting and durable fabrics out there (read: it was traditionally used in rope as sails on maritime vessels—so it can likely withstand your daily 3-mile runs).

Made from the Earth

Compostable

Hemp is compostable: After years of sweaty mornings or relaxing evenings, your hemp athleisure can head to a backyard compost heap to naturally decompose. When organic cotton joins the team, you’ve got activewear that’s breathable, moisture-wicking, stretchable, and oh-so sustainable. Unlike its conventional counterpart, organic cotton is MUCH better for our Earth, and still keeps you feeling fresh and comfortable.

changing oil for plants

Replace Polyester With Hemp

Roughly two-thirds of clothes are made with oil-based fabrics like polyester—which is associated with pollution, damaged ecosystems, and human health issues at every step along the supply chain. Notoriously found in athleisure, polyester is simply not a good fabric—regardless of how successful “leg day” is at the gym.

U.S. Based, Sourced, and Produced

Based in the United States

Beyond Hemp’s founder, Deidre, personally sources the hemp and organic cotton fabric from the U.S. This means that every time you sweat in your Beyond Hemp athleisure you’re supporting U.S. farmers, sustainable farming practices, and a smaller supply chain. Not only are our hemp and cotton fabrics hand-selected in the U.S., but they’re also transformed into sustainable athleisure in a production factory in California. By keeping things local, we strive to support American farmers, mill houses, workers, and our planet.

Smaller Supply Chain

Smaller Supply Chain… uh, what? As sustainable fashion has made its way into more wardrobes, there has been a surge in the growth of two natural fabrics: hemp and organic cotton. For more than a decade, China has been the largest producer of hemp textiles, and India is responsible for most of the world’s organic cotton. These sustainable fabrics may be supporting fields and farmers abroad, but it’s important to remember that the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of our total greenhouse gas emissions. With a smaller, more local supply chain, we’re keeping shipping emissions down, and doing our part to reduce the fashion industry’s role in climate change.

Quality Assurance

Better for Earth, Better for Bodies

Not only does Beyond Hemp source hemp and organic cotton fabric from the U.S., but the fabrics have also been tested to ensure the best quality. Starting with the best fabrics helps us ensure that our athleisure can be worn for a long time. When you’ve got leggings that can go the distance, we hope that it helps you do the same.
